Sympathy times Two

Today there are two cards as I had a phone call from my friends Father a couple of days ago thanking me for his birthday card, and letting me know that his brother who'd we met at a party a couple of weeks ago had passed away. So i wanted a card for him (he's the most lovely man) as well as for my friend.

The materials used are:
® = retired, (sab) = Sale-A-Bration (nsu) = not stampin’ up

Card One

Stamps: Hopeful Thoughts ®, Pocket Silhouettes ®, Teeny Tiny Wishes ®  Colours: Mint Macaron, Very Vanilla Embossing Folders: Subtle Framelits:  Lebles Collection ®, Stitched Season’s ® Accessories: Delightfully Detailed Note cards & Envelopes

I stamped the leaves from the pocket silhouettes set across the bottom of the card as a background. Then I stamped the tree from hopeful thoughts and the sentiment from teeny tiny wishes. I die cut this using the small frame from stitched season’s framelits. Using mint macaron card stock i then cut a label from the labels collection to use as a backing for the tree and sentiment. Sponged both labels with mint macaron and layered using dimensionals.

Card Two

Stamps: Love & Sympathy ® Colours: Merry Meriot, Whisper White Accessories: Basic pearls, Note Card & Envelopes, Organza ribbon ®, Frost White Shimmer Paint

The sentiment and flower were Stamped using the shimmer paint onto a piece of Merry Merlot card stock 3⅜” x 4⅞”. Then organza ribbon was wrapped round the Merry Merlot and tied a knot at the front. To finish it off I added three pearls below the sentiment.

Sorry for the use of so much retired stock in these two cards but they are stamps I particularly like. Soft and simple.

Will be back again soon with more cards

Birthday Girl

Well today is quite a dull day and the forecast say's it's also going to be wet. We're hoping for slightly better weather as tonight we're at my cousin's Wedding reception which is being held out doors in an adventure park.

I should have blogged this card before the last one as this little angels birthday is a few days before her sisters, but I had a senior moment and swapped the blog posts! Oh my, getting old.

The card it's self is made mostly of retired products but sometimes you get an idea in your head and just have to go for it (which happened in this case).

I'm sure you could come up with something similar using what's in the current catalogue as a starting point.

The base base card is NSU as I like to use scalloped edging sometimes. With the background I started with two strips of card stock and a piece of the 17/8 In Colors paper stack, then using a mat of whisper white I stamped the cake in various colours and then die cut the number 8  from the 'Large Numbers' framelits and placed it on top of the cake using dimensionals. Next I stamped and die cut the 'TH' from the 'Number of Years' stamp set and die cut it using the same framelits I used for the number. Using a strip of card I stamped the happy and birthday also from the 'Number of Years' set, then cut them at either side with a pair a snips. Added some tinsel trim at the edge and that's it.

Shaker Card using the thumping technique

It's rather dull here again today yet when I got up this morning it was glorious sunshine. Just shows close your eyes for a second and the weather can change just like that.

The card I have for you today is again a nice easy one, and retired products can be swapped out for similar stamps in the current catalogue.

The thumping technique is so easy to do!!

First ink up your stamp with the base colour (for me that was powder pink) then using a different colour marker (for me it was balmy blue) gently tap up and down randomly across the base colour and then stamp.

I used whisper white thick card for the base and the mat is normal whisper white die cut using the balloon die, stamped, daubed with the stars using the mask and then embossed using the subtle's embossing folder.

The cat was shaded using watercolor pencils and then brushed out with an aqua painter. It was at this stage I embossed the mat. A bakers twine bow was then placed at the bottom of the balloon. I used our foam adhesive strips round the edge of the circle for height and placed the sequins on the base card and pressed down.

The party hat was  stamped coloured, fussy cut and then a glitter enamelled dot used as the pompom.

Sorry the Granddaughter sentiment is not an SU product and it was this I stamped with powder pink and thumped with balmy blue.

Just hope she likes it!!

Must go, as I've to get ready now for Evie's birthday celebration.
