Need to go out again later doing my Granny duty of collecting one of our grandchildren from school. But hey ho it's worth it to see his face light up when his Grandad and I rock up to get him.
What do you do for the men in your life? I always struggle to make masculine cards and for that matter cards for boys too.
It's surprising how many times I go for trees, but this time I decided on the eclipse style of card.
I just love this type of card for the men in my life, they're easy to do and look quite good.
To recreate this card follow the guide below:
cs = Card Stock, dsp = Designer Series Paper, ® = Retired
Start with a call me clover base card measuring 14.5 x 10.5.
Then a layer of crumb cake measuring 14 x 10, stamped using the Burlap background stamp and adhered to the base card.
The third layer is merry merlot measuring 11 x 8 (mine was a discarded piece of cardstock which had been run though the big shot using the Tin Tile folder).
Lastly the top layer is crumb cake measuring 10.5 x 7.5. Stamp the tree from Rooted In Nature stamp set in crumb cake, stamp again using call me clover for the leaves and soft suede for the trunk adding splashes of merry merlot through the leaves using the thumping method (stamp the first colour and then using a marker tap lightly over the leaves again) .
On a scrap piece of crumb cake stamp the birthday sentiment from the Lift Me Up stamp set omitting the top line of the sentiment,
Die cut the tree using the accompanying die from Natures Roots along with the sentiment using the rectangle die from the Night Owl set. The sentiment was then lightly sponged round the edges to give it an aged look.
Adhere the Burlap ribbon to the side of the card, leaving about 2 centimetres at the bottom lying loose, using a sharp pair of scissors separate each strand to make a fringe.
Adhere all the layers to the base card, raising the tree and sentiment slightly by using dimensional pads, then add the candy dots ®.
Will be back again soon with more cards
Love Annette x
